Death of Turkish Soldier Due to Injuries in Northern Iraq

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday the death of a Turkish soldier who succumbed to wounds sustained from an explosion in northern Iraq, where Turkish forces are conducting a military operation against Kurdish militants. The ministry stated in a press release that the soldier, Erkan Selçuk, suffered severe injuries from a homemade explosive device planted by members of the PKK, which Ankara classifies as a terrorist organization, in the area of Operation "Claw-Lock" on August 25. The ministry noted that the injured soldier was transported to the hospital, but despite all medical efforts to save him, he passed away due to his injuries.
