NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed today, Wednesday, that "Ukraine is now closer to the alliance than ever before." In a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Stoltenberg stated, "I look forward to the day we meet as allies." He emphasized that supporting Ukraine's war effort against Russia remains the most urgent task for Western allies at this time, despite ongoing discussions about Ukraine's future membership in the alliance. Stoltenberg said, "Of course, guarantees, documents, and council meetings are important, but the most urgent task now is to ensure that sufficient weapons are provided to President Volodymyr Zelensky and his armed forces."
