Official media in China reported that "5 people lost their lives, while two are considered missing after heavy rains caused river flooding in a village near the city of Hangzhou in eastern China." Floodwaters swept through homes and also carried away residents and their belongings.
Furthermore, heavy rain has flooded parts of northeastern China, damaging dozens of homes and crops in the region known as China's breadbasket.
China Central Television stated that "up to 5,600 people were evacuated by authorities in Liaoning province due to heavy rainfall in several cities."
There are forecasts for more heavy rain today, Sunday, across most parts of the country.
