European Union: Russia Causes Global Food Crisis by Withdrawing from Grain Agreement

The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, indicated today that "Russia is responsible for a significant global food supply crisis." Borrell stated, "What we already know is that this will lead to a huge and major food crisis in the world." He also accused Russia of deliberately attacking Ukrainian grain storage facilities in the coastal city of Odesa, southern Ukraine. This came days after the Kremlin announced it would suspend Moscow's participation in an agreement that allows for the export of Ukrainian grain through Black Sea ports.
