Qatari Role in the Crisis: Uncertain Outcomes

In terms of Arab and regional movements, a more dynamic Qatari role has been revealed for the coming days, as reports have emerged indicating that Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will visit Washington carrying various files, including the Lebanese situation concerning filling the presidential vacancy. Informed political sources told "Al-Liwaa" that external movements regarding the presidential election are still uncertain and unlikely to achieve quick results, especially since there are necessary stages to go through. The sources clarified that the emergence of new names on the list of presidential candidates is not accurate, at least for now. They pointed out that the "Free Patriotic Movement" has not and will not finalize the name of its candidate, nor will it name former minister Ziyad Baroud, expressing the belief that some names are being proposed while others are withdrawn from consideration before the presidential situation is settled.
