The leader of the nationalist opposition Good Party, Meral Akşener, stated today, Friday, that the opposition alliance consisting of six parties, including her own, no longer reflects the national will, which may indicate her party's withdrawal from the alliance ahead of the elections scheduled for May. Akşener clarified in a press conference that the other five parties did not agree on the candidates proposed by her party for the presidential elections, which are the mayors of Istanbul and Ankara, and called on the mayors to fulfill their duties, in a clear invitation for them to run. The other five parties in the alliance have agreed to put forth Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the prominent opposition Republican People's Party, as a joint candidate to face President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the elections set for May 14.
