Three-year-old Langelihle Vicky was found dead after drowning in a sewage pit at an elementary school in South Africa. The girl was missing for a whole day before her body was discovered on the seventh of this month.
The devastated mother said, "The pain is unbearable; there are no words to describe what I feel," and added, "I haven't been able to sleep for weeks; the family's life has turned into a tragedy."
Human rights organizations hoped that following this incident, action would be taken to eliminate the phenomenon of open sewage pits in the country. Eliah Malanga, spokesperson for the Department of Basic Education, confirmed that the police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Langelihle's death.
