Cairo International Airport customs authorities arrested a Egyptian traveler in possession of a large quantity of ivory (elephant tusk). According to the Egyptian website "Cairo 24," during the customs procedures for passengers on a Middle East Airlines flight from Beirut, an Egyptian passenger was found with 17 kg of ivory. A customs report was filed against the Egyptian passenger, and he was referred to the competent prosecution. A report from the Veterinary Quarantine Administration - Wildlife Section states that the confiscated items are listed in the annexes of the "CITES" agreement and are in violation of Ministerial Resolution No. 1150 of 1999 implementing the agreement.
