Syria Closes Hospital Due to Child Incubators Being Used for Drying Molokhia

Following the uproar caused by a video of child abuse in a nursery in Beirut, social media circulated a video showing another form of mistreatment of children at Al-Yarmouk Hospital in Syria. One of the workers chose to dry molokhia inside the neonatal ward, disregarding the risk of respiratory illnesses and epidemics for premature infants. The Ministry of Health issued a decision to close the private Al-Yarmouk Hospital, located in Daraa province, after the video was shared, which showed a staff member using hospital beds within the incubator area to dry molokhia while newborns were present in the room. After the video's dissemination, the Syrian Ministry of Health took swift action to close the hospital.
