The Lebanese national basketball team received a significant setback ahead of the World Cup (August 25 – September 10), marking their fourth participation in history. Rising star Youssef Khayat, who plays professionally in the United States, announced that he will not be able to join the national team due to an injury he sustained. Khayat wrote on his official Instagram account: "I regret to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the World Cup this summer due to injury. My childhood dream will have to wait a little longer. I wish my teammates good luck, and I am sure they will do their best to make Lebanon proud."
