The U.S. Department of Justice announced today, Friday, the arrest of a former army sergeant who is accused of attempting to transfer national defense information to China. In a statement, it explained that "Joseph Daniel Schmidt, whose last duty station was Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, is charged with federal crimes for attempting to send and retain information related to national defense."
