The Cabinet approved, in its session today, to provide teachers with 5 liters of gasoline daily. So, will the strike be suspended? The Head of the Basic Education Association, Hussein Jawad, told "Al-Markaziya": "The 5 liters of gasoline are a first step towards returning to teaching. What remains is for the Minister of Education to provide what is called productivity incentives to be given to teachers in US dollars. We had previously agreed on the figures with the minister, and today it is required to issue clear and explicit texts or rather a decision from the Minister of Education stating that he will pay the $300 amount on a specific date, in addition to paying an amount for the subsequent months: March, April, May, June, which is $125 on that date each month. Then we will gather as administrative bodies and decide to return to teaching, if these matters are approved in the manner we propose." Regarding the suspension of the strike, he responds: "Two days ago, we decided on a strike until March 5, but if we want to return, we will announce the suspension of the strike then. The bodies will meet today or tomorrow after reviewing the details with the ministry."
