The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Deputy American Ambassador on Monday to express its concern regarding a statement made by U.S. President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days ago, in which they urged Pakistan to ensure its territory is not used as a base for militant attacks. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated, "It was emphasized that the United States should refrain from issuing statements that could be interpreted as encouraging the unfounded Indian perception." The statement also affirmed that cooperation in counter-terrorism between Pakistan and the United States had been progressing well and that a supportive environment based on trust and understanding is essential for strengthening Pakistani-American relations. The Pakistani military reported on Saturday that two civilians were killed by Indian forces in crossfire along the Line of Control, marking the first such clash since a ceasefire agreement in 2021 between the two countries.
