Causes of Decreased Testosterone Levels in Young Men

Doctor Smolikova attributed the decline in testosterone levels in young men to stress. Gastroenterologist Natalia Smolikova discussed the reasons for the decrease in testosterone in early-age men. According to the doctor, this is primarily due to a lack of sleep and prolonged work on laptops. She explained that "testosterone levels can decrease with poor lifestyle habits, as young people tend to go to bed late, sleep little, or are exposed to artificial blue light from laptops and phones for long periods. This reduces their natural melatonin production, which affects testosterone levels." She added that stress also plays a role in this process. Furthermore, the level of this hormone in young men is directly related to the amount of muscle mass. The doctor noted that decreased testosterone leads to weight gain and obesity: the more muscle mass, the more active the muscles, and the higher the testosterone levels. Previously, Russian psychologist Sofia Selim stated that low mood, motor retardation, and impaired thinking are the main signs of depression, which develops when a person is in a state of stress for an extended period.
