Official figures released today show that "the food trade deficit in Tunisia decreased to 540 million dinars (178.12 million dollars) in the first half of the year, compared to one billion dinars during the same period in 2022, largely due to factors including an increase in olive oil export revenues." The National Agriculture Observatory stated that "olive oil export revenues increased by 36 percent in the first half of 2023, reaching 1.81 billion dinars." Grain imports fell by 15 percent this year to 2.19 billion dinars.
