Hot Night in Tripoli: Conflict, Gunfire, and Casualty

Tripoli residents experienced a tense night marked by heavy gunfire following an armed conflict outside a real estate office in the Al-Ma'arad area. The confrontation involved a person from the Al-Sabsibi family (the office owner) and youths from the Tabbaneh area, resulting in the death of a young man, Obaida Khurma, the son of Sheikh Ayman Khurma, and injuries to several others.

In response, units of the Lebanese army deployed extensively throughout Tripoli and the Tabbaneh region to prevent further deterioration of the security situation, with additional units being called in. While the reasons behind the confrontation, which is being investigated by security and military authorities, remain unclear, anger spread through the Tabbaneh area, where residents gathered to receive Obaida Khurma's body amidst chants and armed presence. The gunfire continued for about two hours, causing widespread panic and paralyzing movement in Tripoli.

Obaida Khurma is scheduled to be buried following the noon prayer on Wednesday at Harba Mosque. Schools in Tabbaneh and surrounding areas announced the suspension of classes today due to the funeral and potential for further gunfire.
