Francois Pallo, a biology professor at the University of London, commented on the spread of a new variant of the coronavirus in several countries. He stated, "Currently, most people on Earth have either been vaccinated or infected with the virus." The biology professor noted that even if individuals contract the new variant, their immune memory allows their immune system to control and manage the infection. He confirmed that even if "BA.86.2" causes a significant rise in infection numbers, we do not expect to see levels of severe illness and death similar to those experienced earlier during the pandemic with the alpha, delta, and omicron variants. The new coronavirus variant "Iris" appeared this summer, with estimated COVID cases in the UK rising by about 200,000 last month.
