Indian authorities announced a state of alert on Saturday in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa, along with other coastal areas, following warnings from meteorological experts about the intensifying Cyclone Biparjoy over the Arabian Sea in the next twenty-four hours. Authorities have requested fishing regions to cease operations for the next five days in the eastern and central Arabian Sea, as well as in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions, prior to the arrival of Cyclone Biparjoy. The Indian Meteorological Department stated that "the cyclone is located about 620 kilometers to the west and southwest of the financial capital Mumbai." They added, "It is very likely to strengthen further and move gradually towards the north and northeast in the next twenty-four hours."
