French footballer Benjamin Mendy, former left-back of Manchester City, has transferred to FC Lorient, competing in Ligue 1, on a two-year contract, just days after being acquitted of rape charges. Lorient announced in a statement: "Mendy has passed the medical examination and will wear the number 5 shirt, making his first appearance at the club's training ground later today." A British court found the 29-year-old French international not guilty of rape last Friday. In January, it was established that Mendy was not guilty of six charges of rape and one of sexual assault.
