The Minister of National Defense in the caretaker government, Maurice Slim, contacted the American Ambassador in Lebanon, Dorothy Shea, condemning the shooting incident on Wednesday night at the entrance of the American embassy in Aoukar, assuring her of the safety of its staff. Minister Slim confirmed that "the military and security forces are gathering the necessary information to uncover the identity of the shooter and the entities behind the incident, and measures have been taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, especially since the protection of diplomatic premises and their staff is the responsibility of the Lebanese security institutions."
