The Counter-Terrorism Service in Iraqi Kurdistan reported today, Friday, that a Turkish drone strike killed three people, including a senior member of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), marking the fifth such attack this week targeting Kurdish militants in northern Iraq. The agency stated that the PKK vehicle was hit at 3:30 PM local time. The strike occurred a day after Turkey announced the deaths of five of its soldiers in clashes with the PKK in northern Iraq. Three Kurdish security sources indicated that the three individuals were in their vehicle on the heavily used civilian route between Penjwin and Sulaymaniyah, approximately 30 kilometers from a popular tourist destination, when they were struck by the drone.
