Judge Sets Date for Trump's Criminal Trial

A U.S. judge announced today, Tuesday, that former President Donald Trump will face a criminal trial on March 25, 2024, on 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal payments made for the silence of adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Trump will be tried during the primary elections for the 2024 presidential nomination, during which he aims to rally support from Republicans. Two sources told Reuters that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his intention to run tomorrow, Wednesday.

The main purpose of today’s session was to formally inform Trump of an order preventing him from disclosing certain evidence to third parties, including the media and social networks. Judge Merchan asked Trump at the beginning of the session if he had a copy of the order. Trump responded, "Yes, I have it." Prosecutors stated that the order restricting disclosure of certain evidence is necessary due to Trump's history of using social media as a platform to attack others and the risk of witness harassment.
