Biden: The Pandemic is Over

U.S. President Joe Biden stated in an interview that "the pandemic is over," despite the ongoing battle against COVID-19 infections that are causing hundreds of American deaths each day. During an interview with CBS on Wednesday at the Detroit Auto Show, Biden said, "The pandemic is over." He added, "We are still facing a problem with COVID-19. We are still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over. If you notice, nobody is wearing masks. Everyone seems to be in good shape. So I think the situation is starting to change."

The number of COVID-19 related deaths has significantly decreased since the early days of Biden's presidency when more than 3,000 Americans were dying daily, following the wider availability of booster care, medications, and vaccines. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that nearly 400 people are still dying daily from COVID-19 in the U.S. Biden has requested an additional $22.4 billion from Congress to prepare for a potential increase in COVID-19 cases during the fall.
