Olympique Marseille, competing in France's Ligue 1, announced on Tuesday the signing of Senegalese midfielder Iliman Ndiaye from newly-promoted Premier League club Sheffield United. Sheffield stated that they "reluctantly" accepted Marseille's offer, expressing their desire for the player to stay and help the team in the Premier League. They added in a statement: "Sheffield United indeed offered Ndiaye (23 years old) a generous new contract, but unfortunately, the club had to accept the offer from the French team after the player expressed his wish to join his childhood club."
