Tunisian President Kais Saied confirmed that "Tunisia will not accept becoming a border guard for other countries," ahead of an anticipated visit from European leaders concerned about the number of migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
During his visit to the coastal city of Sfax, Saied stated that "the solution will not come at the expense of Tunisia, and we cannot play the role that some openly express and others conceal, nor can we be the guards of their countries."
European countries are worried about a wave of migration across the Mediterranean this year, particularly from Tunisia.
