Dorothy Hoffner, a 104-year-old American, hopes to be certified as the oldest person to ever skydive after leaving her walker on the ground to make this jump in northern Illinois.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Dorothy Hoffner announced to a crowd shortly after landing on Sunday in Ottawa, about 140 kilometers southwest of Chicago, that "age is just a number."
It is noted that the world record for the oldest skydiver was set in May 2022 by Swedish woman Linnea Ingegard Larsen, who was 103 years old at that time, while organizers of the event in Illinois are seeking to have Hoffner's jump recognized as a record by the Guinness World Records.
