Nine Dead at New Year's Celebration

At least nine people were killed in a stampede at a shopping center in the Ugandan capital during New Year's celebrations, according to reports from "France Presse" citing police. After fireworks were set off in front of the "Freedom City" center in Kampala, a stampede occurred that resulted in the immediate deaths of five people and injuries to others. The police added that "emergency teams arrived at the scene and took the injured to the hospital where the deaths of nine people were confirmed."
