Former U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that the conflict in Ukraine could be settled "with an agreement" rather than "by sending millions of dollars in aid to Kyiv." He stated, "If I were currently in the position of President of the United States, I could achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours." Trump had previously commented on the actions of current U.S. President Joe Biden regarding Ukraine, saying that the conflict should end with a deal, not by sending millions of dollars in assistance to Kyiv. Additionally, Trump noted that due to U.S. actions, the conflict in Ukraine could lead to a world war. Furthermore, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland stated yesterday that the U.S. administration is prepared to consider easing some sanctions imposed on Russia in serious negotiations concerning Ukraine. However, she emphasized that the United States wants to ensure Kyiv regains control of territories that have become part of Russia or are controlled by the Russian military. In response, Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, pointed out that Nuland's message is unacceptable to Moscow, as historical decisions cannot be changed for promises to review sanctions.
