The Greek Coast Guard reported that Greek authorities recovered the bodies of three migrants after their boat sank off the island of Symi in the southeastern Aegean Sea early on Monday. A coast guard official stated that a woman and seven men were rescued, while authorities are searching for two missing individuals believed to have reached the island. The official added that about 13 migrants were reportedly on board the boat. Greece is one of the main entry points into the European Union for migrants and refugees fleeing poverty and conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. According to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, approximately 32,800 individuals have arrived in Greece so far this year, including about 27,000 by sea.
