Minister of Displaced Persons in the caretaker government, Issam Sharfeddine, stated: "The displaced persons who entered Lebanon through illegal crossings cannot be counted, and municipalities must cooperate in this matter." Sharfeddine confirmed to "Voice of Lebanon" that "the number of displaced persons who entered through legal crossings in August reached 8,000, while the total since the beginning of the year exceeds 20,000."
