FIFA Initiates Disciplinary Action Against President of the Spanish Federation

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced today, Thursday, that the "Disciplinary Committee has begun proceedings against the President of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, following the incident of kissing player Jenni Hermoso on the mouth without her consent during the Women's World Cup award ceremony." The incident, which occurred during Rubiales' distribution of the gold medals after Spain's 1-0 victory over England in the final last Sunday, has sparked intense anger both inside and outside of Spain. Hermoso stated that it "should not go unpunished."
