The Japanese "Nikkei" index relinquished early gains made at the beginning of the session on Friday, closing down and marking its first weekly loss after 10 weeks of increases. This decline comes as investors take profits ahead of an expected sell-off at the end of the month to rebalance investment portfolios. The "Nikkei" fell by 1.45% to 32,781.54 points after rising by as much as 0.8% earlier in the session. This marked a weekly decline of 2.7%, the first weekly drop in 11 weeks. The broader "Topix" index also decreased by 1.38% to close at 2,264.73 points. Shares of the SoftBank Group, which invests in emerging technology companies, dropped by 2.39%. The trade sector lost 3.38%, recording the worst performance among the 33 sub-sectors on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
