Mikati: The Case of Hannibal Gaddafi is in the Hands of the Competent Judiciary

The media office of Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued the following statement: "News is circulating on some social media platforms and via WhatsApp regarding 'Prime Minister of the Libyan unity government Abdul Hamid Dabaiba's communication with the Prime Minister regarding the case of Hannibal Gaddafi.' The media office wishes to clarify that 'Prime Minister Mikati has not received any communication from any Libyan party, and the file of Hannibal Gaddafi is with the competent judiciary; any follow-up on this file is conducted through the appropriate judicial channels. The Prime Minister expresses Lebanon's commitment to maintaining the best relations with the Libyan people.' This clarification was necessary."

Dabaiba had announced in an interview with "Al-Hadath" that he had communicated with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati regarding the case of Hannibal Gaddafi. He pointed out that "Mikati informed me that the government is not detaining Hannibal Gaddafi," noting that "Hannibal Gaddafi is an extraordinary person and is experiencing difficult circumstances in Lebanon." He revealed that "a Libyan committee will visit Lebanon soon to discuss the case of Hannibal Gaddafi."
