The website "The Athletic" reported on Wednesday that Arsenal has reached a preliminary agreement to sign Chelsea's German player Kai Havertz for £65 million ($82.72 million). The report confirmed that Havertz has agreed to the terms of the contract, with Arsenal set to initially pay £62 million for the 24-year-old player, along with an additional £3 million in bonuses. If he joins, Havertz will become the second most expensive signing in Arsenal's history, following the club's £72 million acquisition of Ivory Coast player Nicolas Pépé in 2019. The German international Havertz joined Chelsea on a five-year contract in 2020 for £71 million after spending two impressive seasons with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. With Chelsea, Havertz won the UEFA Champions League in his first season and scored the winning goal in the 2021 final against Manchester City.
