The US military announced today, Saturday, the arrival of fighter jets to the Central Command area of responsibility to enhance air operations in the Middle East. The US Central Command stated via X (formerly Twitter) that "F-15E Strike Eagle attack aircraft from the 494th Fighter Squadron have arrived in the US Central Command area of responsibility." It confirmed that the arrival of these fighters is "to bolster US positioning and air operations throughout the Middle East." Last Monday, the United States announced it was moving an aircraft carrier, ships, and fighter jets to the eastern Mediterranean region, assuring that it would provide Israel with more equipment and munitions. This comes after the attack launched by Hamas on Israel, which US President Joe Biden described as "horrific and unprecedented aggression." US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated that the aircraft carrier "USS Gerald R. Ford," cruise missiles, and four destroyers are heading to the region, in addition to the deployment of US fighter jets. Washington is expected to send more military aid to Israel, according to the White House, which added that it is working to ensure that Israel's enemies do not exploit the current situation to gain an advantage.
