The Jordanian telecommunications company "Umniah" announced today, Wednesday, that it has launched 5G mobile services in major urban areas, ahead of its two main competitors. The CEO of the company stated that "since obtaining the license earlier this year, we partnered with 'Ericsson' in the first phase of the service rollout by building infrastructure and upgrading the existing 4G network." The company intends to invest an additional $300 million over the next four years to expand the network to cover half of the country's population. Experts estimate the value of the telecommunications services market in Jordan to be up to $1.2 billion. The other two companies are the Kuwait-based "Zain Group" and "Orange Jordan." Officials mentioned that the government granted the three main operators 5G licenses in a deal worth about $100 million.
