Ukraine Announces Retaking of New Village in Counteroffensive

Ukrainian forces have regained the village of Pyatykhatsky on the road leading to one of the most heavily fortified areas in the south of the country occupied by Russia. They have reclaimed 113 square kilometers of territory in the past two weeks. Ukrainian soldiers raised the national flag in yellow and blue, and an unnamed soldier stated, "Today, June 18, we expelled the 128th Brigade from the village of Pyatykhatsky. The Russians fled, leaving behind equipment and ammunition. Glory to Ukraine!" Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar noted that "Ukrainian forces not only recovered Pyatykhatsky but also advanced up to 7 kilometers into Russian lines within two weeks."
