Innovative Methods to Relieve Stress

Stress management expert Olivia Remis from the University of Cambridge revealed to the Daily Mail a set of unconventional ways to alleviate stress.

**Exercise and Stretching**

Remis states that yoga and physical exercises can help control breathing, as the body releases hormones called endorphins, which are natural painkillers and mood enhancers that lead to a feeling of relaxation.

**Diving into Cold Water**

An Italian study in 2021 revealed that people who took cold sea baths in winter experienced lower stress levels. Another study in 2007 showed that cold water stimulates the production of endorphins, which help with relaxation and have an opposite effect on the stress hormone cortisol.

**Petting Animals**

Interacting with pets reduces cortisol levels, which is responsible for stress. According to a study by the University of York in 2020, animals provide emotional support and help combat feelings of loneliness and tension.

**Face Tapping**

Studies have indicated that face tapping alleviates stress. This method, developed in the 1990s and known as Emotional Freedom Techniques, involves tapping on points on the face and body or rubbing them while repeating positive phrases out loud, such as "I love myself." This therapy provides a more positive mindset and helps balance energy and reduce physical and emotional pain.

**Foot Massage**

Experts suggest that there are reflex areas in the feet connected to the body, and it is believed that massaging certain areas of the feet and applying pressure with the thumb and fingers releases congestion and enhances energy flow.
