Elon Musk: Implanting Technology in Brains

Neuralink, the company founded by billionaire Elon Musk that specializes in efforts to implant technology in brains, has raised new funding of $280 million from investors to develop its technology. The startup announced the funding round in a post on the social media platform X. The round was led by Founders Fund, the venture capital firm backed by billionaire Peter Thiel. Neuralink recently received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to conduct clinical trials on humans. The company is developing a small device that uses wires with electrodes to connect the brain to a computer. Installing the device requires drilling into the skull. The startup has previously raised concerns among animal rights groups due to its testing on primate species.
