"Opill" First Over-the-Counter Birth Control Pill

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved, on Thursday, the first over-the-counter birth control medication, paving the way for millions of women to purchase contraceptives without the need to visit a doctor. The "Opill" pill, which is taken daily and marketed by the company "Preggo," was initially approved for prescription use in 1973, and the recent approval allows for its over-the-counter availability. Preggo announced that the medication will be available in stores and online in the first quarter of next year, and stated that it will share information regarding pricing plans next week.
