India: Discussing Security Issues Is Not Within the G20's Mandate

India's representative in the G20, Amitabh Kant, stated today that "mediating peace between Russia and Ukraine is outside the group's mandate, and the best place for such efforts is the United Nations through bilateral negotiations." In an interview with Reuters, Amitabh Kant said, "We see the G20 as an economic forum, not a forum for discussing security issues." He added, "But as Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Bali, this is not an era of war, but an era of dialogue and diplomacy."
