Biden Concludes Visit to Ancestral Homeland in Western Ireland

U.S. President Joe Biden wraps up a three-day visit to Ireland, the birthplace of his great-grandfather, with a gathering in the western part of the country today, Friday. The visit included a glimpse of his campaign for the upcoming 2024 elections amid enthusiastic crowds waving flags, taking pictures with children, and delivering lengthy speeches. In this context, Irish Foreign Minister Micheál Martin stated, "He draws his energy from politics, and he draws energy from the people because he is a politician by nature," emphasizing that "what I have noticed in the past few days is that his appetite has not diminished." Biden began his visit on Wednesday in Belfast with a more serious discussion, urging political leaders there to restore a power-sharing government. After leaving Dublin, Biden is scheduled to visit the Catholic shrine in Knock in northwestern Ireland.
