Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that "at least one person has been killed and 15 injured in a Russian missile attack on a hospital in the city of Dnipro in eastern Ukraine today, Friday." He described it as a "crime against humanity." The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense referred to the attack as a serious war crime under the Geneva Conventions. A large part of the upper floor of what appeared to be a three-story building was damaged.
Russia denies repeated accusations of its soldiers committing war crimes in Ukraine. Moscow has not yet commented on the airstrikes but stated that "Ukraine shelled two areas in southern Russia with a missile and a drone." Russia indicated that it summoned senior American diplomats to the Foreign Ministry to protest what it described as "unacceptable statements" by White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan regarding "strikes on Russian territory."
