A statement issued by the Army Command – Directorate of Guidance read: "As part of combating human smuggling and illegal infiltration across the land borders, units of the army foiled, on various dates during this week, an attempt by approximately 1200 Syrians to infiltrate at the Lebanese-Syrian border."
