Bloomberg News reported that a British-made main battle tank, the Challenger 2, was destroyed by Russian fire for the first time as Ukraine continues its counteroffensive against Russian forces. A video clip was posted on social media on Monday showing the destroyed tank near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, which was liberated by Ukrainian forces last month. A British official, who requested anonymity, confirmed the destruction of the tank, which has been in use by the UK for three decades. It remains unclear whether the tank's crew survived. Ukraine received 14 Challenger 2 tanks from the UK this year, making the UK the first ally of Kyiv to pledge the supply of advanced modern tanks.
