Diogo Jota scored twice, and Mohamed Salah added another as Liverpool narrowly defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2 at home, with all five goals coming in the second half of the Premier League match on Saturday. Jota opened the scoring in the 47th minute, but former Liverpool player Neco Williams equalized for Forest just four minutes later. However, Jota struck again four minutes afterwards to make it 2-1 for the home side.
Morgan Gibbs-White brought the visiting team back on level terms in the 67th minute, but Forest's celebration was short-lived as Salah scored the winning goal just three minutes later.
Liverpool has revived its hopes of qualifying for European competition, moving up to seventh place with 50 points from 31 matches, trailing Newcastle United in fourth place by six points, having played only 30 matches. Forest, on the other hand, sits in 19th place, second to last, with 27 points, just one point adrift of safety.
