Zelensky Visits Ukrainian Forces Near Bakhmut... Video

The intensity of the ongoing battles in Bakhmut has increased, with Russian forces continuing their bombing operations and attempts to advance towards the center. Amidst this struggle, Kyiv announced today, Wednesday, that President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the front lines in the strategic city. The Ukrainian presidential website stated that Zelensky visited the fighting forces in the Donetsk region of Donbas, where Bakhmut is located. However, it did not specify exactly when the visit took place, only mentioning that the president visited the army's front-line positions in the Bakhmut area, where he listened to reports on the operational situation and the course of "hostilities" there. It was also added that the president spoke to the soldiers and expressed his gratitude for their defense of Ukraine, stating, "I am proud to be here today in eastern Ukraine, in Donbas, to honor our heroes."

It should be noted that Bakhmut has turned into a scene of the fiercest and deadliest battles for several weeks, with most of its residents having fled. Moscow insists on controlling it, believing that achieving this goal will create a gap in Ukrainian defenses and serve as a step toward seizing the entire industrial Donbas region, which has been a primary objective of Russian forces since the war began on February 24 last year. Zelensky presented medals to the fighters, according to his media office. He wrote on "Telegram" beneath a video of him awarding medals to soldiers, "I was honored to be here today to present awards to our heroes, to shake their hands, and to thank them for protecting our country's sovereignty."
