American actor Will Smith described the strikes by Hollywood actors and writers as a "pivotal moment in the film industry." Smith wrote on his official Instagram account: "I want to take a moment to talk about what is happening. As some have heard, the Screen Actors Guild SAG-AFTRA is on strike with the Writers Guild of America WGA, and this is a pivotal moment in our profession." Smith also expressed his gratitude to his mentor Aaron Spitzer, saying: "In my 33 years as an actor, there are still some days when I feel like that kid from 'Philly,' borrowing borrowed time, even though I know I've been incredibly fortunate to have worked as an actor during this time; it is thanks to my friend, mentor, and coach Aaron Spitzer, whom I fondly refer to as my coach." In response to the post, SAG-AFTRA stated: "Thank you for your support, Will."
