Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Błaszczak announced the formation of a "battalion of experts in the city of Augustów in the Suwałki Corridor in the northeastern part of the country," according to the TASS agency. Błaszczak noted that "this is another military unit being formed from scratch, and it will not be the last," emphasizing that he considers "Polish soldiers to be the best guarantee for the country's security." For his part, the spokesman for the government security committee, Zbigniew Hoffman, confirmed that "the Polish Ministry of Defense decided to redeploy troops from the western part of the country to the eastern part, near the border with Belarus, in light of reports about plans for military exercises there involving Wagner Group, the Russian private military forces."
