Mikati on the US Embassy Incident: No to Old Patterns in Political Messaging

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, from New York, followed the incident of gunfire at the entrance of the US Embassy. He conducted a series of calls with security leaders to be informed of the available data regarding the incident and requested a strict pursuit of the case and clarification of its circumstances. Mikati emphasized that "the protection of diplomatic missions in Lebanon is a matter of utmost importance, and it is not permissible for anyone to revert to old patterns of political messaging that the Lebanese have suffered greatly from." He stated, "The security forces are mobilized to clarify the circumstances of this condemned incident and arrest those responsible."
